The secret to a successful Christmas
The Christmas rush is on and once again you’ll take up the extraordinary challenge of bringing joy to your customers with all of your products.
And we’ll be by your side through the 70,000 mail carriers and delivery drivers, the teams on our platforms and in our sorting centres and post offices, our Customer Service teams and all the other postal workers. We’ll help you put the magic in your parcels by letting you in on the secrets to a successful delivery under the Christmas tree !
Flow forecasts
Every Wednesday, let your usual sales contact know how many postal items you expect to send the following week, by type of flow. This enables the field teams to adjust the organisation and the transport plan to meet your needs and handle all of the parcels you entrust to us as efficiently as possible.
Anticipating the best time for dropping off mail items
To ensure your parcels are processed as promptly as possible:
- Drop them off at the platform in the morning if you have large volumes to process
- Drop weekend orders off from 22:00 on a Sunday evening
Optimising parcel sorting in the trailers
Prefer stacked bulk loading in your trailers.
This makes it possible to ship more parcels during the same trip by using a stacking system like a “giant Tetris puzzle”. This reduces not only the amount of raw materials used but also the waste produced (pallets, cartons, etc.). Ideal for reducing costs and the carbon footprint.
Inform the customer at the right time and with the right content
We all know how vital customer communication is for your business.
After analyzing millions of parcels and the way they were notified, we now know that a customer who receives a Colissimo notification on the eve of delivery (including the delivery rescheduling service), has a better chance of being delivered on the first presentation and of avoiding a pending delivery. A parcel notified by Colissimo allows to gain +1,1% of delivery success rate from the first presentation, up to +3,2% for parcels with signature and a decrease of 0,5% of pending delivery compared to a non-notified parcel.
Over the course of a year, this represents 1.8 million better delivered parcels and 800,000 pending orders avoided.
Thus, choosing Colissimo for its customer communication means guaranteeing accurate information in real time and offering all Flex Services.
Furthermore, to maximise the e-mail opening rate and reassure recipients, our e-mail notifications are VMC (Verified Mark Certificates) certified by Digicert. This means that the Colissimo logo is displayed on a number of e-mail clients such as Gmail and Yahoo.
So remember to personalise your business name and logo in the "My account" section and give us the recipients' contact details (e-mail and mobile).
We can’t say it often enough: successful parcel delivery also depends on the parcel being well designed !
Making up parcels
A well-designed parcel has three main components:
- Packaging: it must be sturdy, stable and the right size. If necessary, use packing material to wedge the contents securely in place.
- Managing empty space: empty space can result in the parcel’s contents shifting and being broken during shipping. To avoid this, choose packaging that is the right size and use an appropriate solution to hold your goods securely in place.
- The label: it must be clearly printed (no crossing out, blank line or offset text), stuck to a single, flat side of the parcel and never in a plastic sleeve, since the label-reading machine cannot read them correctly and the parcel will have to be processed manually.
EDI notifications
Your EDI notifications are key.
They must be sent before entering the La Poste network (ideally when the truck leaves your warehouse), with full postal addresses and contact details of your recipients. Without this, we cannot deliver and offer Flex Services.
