The small and light parcel

Thanks to his granddaughter Lola, Granddad is now online, and he has purchased a new accessory so he can be dressed to the nines.  He’s a little worried, though. The small parcel is a bit heavy; is it really his?

A small parcel is like a letter, right? It gets delivered by La Poste!

Well, yes, but it isn’t processed in exactly the same way as a letter. Specific sorting machines handle parcels. Our machines do this very quickly, and some of them can even manage up to 40,000 parcels an hour. In such a case, if the parcel is too light, mechanical sorting becomes complicated as the parcel is sent at the speed of the conveyor. This can be a problem, especially at bends. Small parcels, like tube parcels, lien vers ancre colis tube)can end up in the machine’s recovery nets, leading to delays, as they have to be collected by the maintenance team, which can only do so during machine stoppages, once or twice per day on average.

The other problem with this type of parcel is the size. When they’re too small the label might fold over onto a second side, so the information can get cut off and be difficult for the optical readers to scan, again leading to delays.

Our recommendation for the perfect small parcel:

First of all, respect the minimum size of 16 x 11 x 10 cm (LxWxH), which is slightly bigger than the minimum label size (10 x 15 cm). You should also think about adding a bit of extra weight to the parcel, bringing it up to the full amount of weight you have paid for. The first weight range covers 0-250 grams.
