Costums formalities

Costums documentations:
  • please note that goods for CHILE must have the following documents attached : 4 copies of form CN23 and 2 copies of commercial invoice or pro forma invoice. The CN23 form is used to justify the nature, value and origin of shipments. It is required for international shipments to overseas territories and certain specific territories in Europe.
  • DAP and DDP shipments between a company and an individual with a value of US$500 or less are exempt from customs duties but subject to VAT (19%) : the sender must register on the Chilean Tax Administration (SII) website https://www.sii.cl/vat/index.html, Digital VAT Portal - to facilitate rapid customs clearance of shipments without charging VAT (19%) or related fees. Senders must collect VAT (19%) for each product sold based on the Free On Board (FOB) value at the time of sale, and declare/pay these amounts directly to the Chilean Tax Administration (SII). For each item, following the detailed description on the commercial invoice, they must provide the registration code given by the Chilean Tax Administration (SII) website. If the shipper does not register, shipments are treated as informal and subject to 19% VAT (on the CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) value) + ancillary costs. The tax identification number (TAX ID: VAT number of the sender to be entered in the 'Customs reference' field on Coliship) is mandatory for all types of shipments in order to be cleared through customs in Chile. Failure to provide this number may result in the shipment being held in customs until the number is received.
Specific restrictions:
  • Alcohol, chemicals, CDs, computer equipment, cosmetics, medicines, food, medical equipment, spare parts, personal effects, cassettes, textiles, tobacco, toys.
  • The combined shipment of battery-powered electrical/electronic devices with liquids, aerosols or gels (LAG) is no longer permitted in international air mail. It is MANDATORY to separate the goods and make two separate shipments.
