Costums formalities

Costums documentations:
  • please note that goods for TURKEY must have the following documents attached : 4 copies of form CN23 and 2 copies of commercial invoice or pro forma invoice. The CN23 form is used to justify the nature, value and origin of shipments. It is required for international shipments to overseas territories and certain specific territories in Europe.
Specific restrictions:
  • Shipments containing footwear, toys and leather goods (e.g. bags, suitcases made of genuine or artificial leather) are subject to a detailed/complete import customs declaration, regardless of the value or quantity of the contents. Prior to payment of customs duties, a detailed or full import customs declaration must be submitted to the Turkish customs administration by an authorised customs consultant or broker, acting on behalf of the recipient, to finalise the customs clearance process. This may result in additional costs for recipients, who must make the necessary arrangements with a customs consultant.
  • Turkish Post will inform the recipient of customs clearance requirements by telegram and SMS (if a mobile phone number is available). Once the customs consultant contacted by the recipient has submitted the import declaration to customs, the applicable duties will be assessed and collected before delivery.
  • Sensitive products or those subject to excise duties must have the relevant documents attached.
  • The combined shipment of battery-powered electrical/electronic devices with liquids, aerosols or gels (LAG) is no longer permitted in international air mail. It is MANDATORY to separate the goods and make two separate shipments.
